[A stern-looking man can be seen on the pixellated video screen of the communicators. A new arrival -- he's clearly none too happy about it. Looking down at something, he mutters,] We're definitely not in Kanto anymore. Looks more like a former battlefield...

[He then looks back up at the device in his hand.] What a shock! I can't be the only one here, can I? [He should be worried about his own safety, why he's ended up here, and how to get out. While he is, there's a more important concern on his mind.] I've got two sick Pokemon here. It's like all their electricity's run dry! [The video of his camera is lowered to show Raichu.] Rai! Rai! [Raichu looks to be concentrating very hard as he attempts to make electricity come forth from his cheeks, but to no avail. He looks down, dejected, knowing that it's no use.] Chuuuuu...

[The camera is taken back up to Raichu's owner who smirks confidently.] My name's Lieutenant Surge. I don't know where this is or how we got here, but whoever brought us here better think twice if they expect us to be quiet about it. Never give up! We'll keep on fighting no matter what! [Though they can't be seen at this point, Surge's two Pokemon can be heard making enthusiastic battle cries in response to what their owner has just said.]

[His expression returns to serious.] If anyone else is out there, please respond.

Uhm, sir, are you alright?

[Raichu jumps up on Surge's shoulder to get a better look at the strange Pokegear-like device in the man's hand.] Chuuuu? [Surge ignores that first question because as far as he knows, everybody knows about the existence of Pokemon.]

I'm fine -- it's my Pokemon I'm worried about! Where the heck are we?

Is that what that is? Is it's name Pokemon?

You're in a city called Discedo. You were pulled here by a group of scientists, from your world... but you're stuck here until they decide to send you home. When you come, the scientists put these... electronic chips in you that limit all of your powers.

If you just arrived, you need to find somewhere safe, though. There are monsters in the streets, and it's dangerous!

[Surge exchanges confused looks with his Raichu. It takes a few seconds for the information to sink in, but as soon as it does, he answers without hesitation.]

His name's Raichu. Is that what's wrong with him? Some kind of chip? [He frowns.] Sounds like the work of Team Rocket, if you ask me. They'll pay for this!

[It's that last part that throws him off the most.] Huh? I don't see any tall grass around...

[well, she was going to say something else, but! Raichu is a cute little electric rodent and she's distracted.]

Oh! Your Raichu's super cute! [but sob, it looks so sad.]

[Oh hey, a somewhat-familiar face. It's hard to see through the pixellated camera, but it sure looks and sounds like her. Maybe he's in Johto or something?]

Yeah, I am! My name's Whitney! You're one of the Kanto Gym Leaders, aren't you? Vermilion City, I think, right? [she spends most her time in Kanto in Celadon and Saffron, give her a break.]

[Surge takes the time to read the entire thing, beginning to end. It really takes him back to his days in the army -- the guide is like a mission briefing to him. Once he's finished, he nods in response to her question. Raichu is now chilling on his shoulder, staring at the communicator.]
