[It's been a while since Surge has made any broadcast. As a result, the communicator is none too happy. That buzzing sound all-too-familiar to most residents of Discedo can be heard as a the video turns on, showing its owner. He's sleeping rather calmly without a shirt on and even snoring a little. His trusted companions are sleeping peacefully next to him.]

ZZZZZAP--

[But instead of waking up and realizing what's going on, he just swats at the communicator lazily.]

Mhhh... Raichu, cut it out... I'll feed you [yaaaawn] when I... wake up.....

[Raichu cracks an eye open.] Chuuuu~? [And also goes back to sleep.]

[For a trainer of Electric-type Pokemon, the weak shock hardly means anything. So he just ignores it. Not as planned, scientists. Not as planned.]

[Hey, what was that noise? Trained well by the military, Surge instantly opens his eyes and seeks out the source of the voice. He's looking around, but there's nobody else in the room.]

...Huh? Who's there?

[thunderbadge]

[Surge rolls over and feels something cold pressing up against his cheek. That finally makes him wake up. And hey, it's his strange radio thing. After sitting up and rubbing his eyes, he blinks a few times and looks down at it.

...

...]

Oh. Hey, America!

[thunderbadge]

[The sound of somebody talking wakes him up in an instant, but he didn't manage to catch exactly what was said.]

Huh, wha? I'm awake! Are we under attack?!

No you aren't.

[Looks around: there's nobody in the room.

Looks to the side: his Pokemon look just as confused as he does.

Looks down: Oh. The communicator.]

Uhh... hello?

Oh, I'm sorry. [Have a Cynthia waving from the other side of the communicator.] Over here, on the device next to you!

[And he finally sees the communicator and picks it up.]

Weird... When did this thing get turned on?

[battledancing]

I thought you might have left it on all along... It can't have happened on its own, right?

[thunderbadge]

I have no idea. These things don't make a lot of sense to begin with.

[battledancing]

They don't? They seemed pretty ordinary to me, if a little old.

[thunderbadge]

Really? I've never seen any phone with a video feature before. But that's just how it is where I'm from, I guess.

Well, technology does amazing things as we need it. Like the Pokemon Storage System, for instance.

That's right! Hey, not many people here even know about Pokemon. Are you a trainer too?
